Sydney Landscape Code
A comprehensive guide to creating high quality, sustainable landscape spaces within private developments.
OCULUS prepared the Sydney Landscape Code to guide the creation of high quality, sustainable landscape spaces within private developments across the City of Sydney. The Landscape Code provides practical advice and guidelines to assist landowners to contribute to the greening of the City. It specifies Council requirements for the preparation of landscape plans for Development Application submissions.
The Code has been developed for use by private landowners, developers, architects, landscape architects and other designers. The City of Sydney Council officers will use this publication as a key reference when assessing development applications. It provides guidance and suggestions for how private developments can create and enhance usable private landscape spaces, establish a positive relationship between private domain and built form, and contribute to the character and amenity of the local area, streetscape and broader neighbourhood.
The Code encourages private landscapes that are highly accessible, contribute to habitat provision, reduce the urban heat island effect, manage stormwater, reduce water usage, and support the City of Sydney’s urban tree canopy targets.
