Powerhouse Ultimo Design Competition: Shortlist
Five leading Australian design teams have been shortlisted to participate in the Design Competition to renew Powerhouse Ultimo – including a team led by BVN x OCULUS!
Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) Trust President Peter Collins AM QC said the competition “generated interest from some of the finest architectural and design teams in the country, as is befitting of such an internationally significant cultural infrastructure project. It is with great optimism and excitement that we invite these five shortlisted teams to proceed to the next stage of the Design Competition.”
Ninotschka Titchkosky, Co-CEO of BVN and Project Director says, “we are in the early decades of a century that promises extraordinary social and economic change. And there has never been a better or more significant time to leverage the Powerhouse’s position to shape the future of Sydney."
The renewal will deliver new and refurbished exhibition and public spaces, and opportunities to re-orient the Powerhouse to the Goods Line, connecting to the city and surrounding precincts.
Powerhouse Chief Executive Lisa Havilah looks “forward to seeing bold and ambitious ideas that will place the museum at the very forefront of contemporary museum practice for the benefit of our communities.”
