New project: Buzzard Point, Washington, DC
Square 662 at Buzzard Point has recently been presented to the Advisory Neighborhood Commission. OCULUS has been working closely with the development team and architects to develop the master plan of several properties along the Anacostia River at the terminus of the South Capitol Street corridor where it meets the new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge. Integrating the public realm with the Bridge and the South Capitol Street Ellipse while improving the pedestrian experience have been our primary focus throughout the current process.
Over the past year, our efforts have been focused on creating a new public plaza at the terminus of South Capitol Street; creating a vibrant, activated and ecologically sensitive waterfront on the Anacostia River; and extending the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail through the master plan to connect the Promenade at Dock 79 and Maren with the recently completed portion of trail located at the Watermark building, directly south of our project.
